How do I sign my documents?
Please follow these simple steps to sign your HTML or XML page.
- Make sure you have a valid digital certificate, if you don't have one you can get it from e.g. VeriSign or Thawte.
- Download our Windows program SignDoc.exe.
- Locate the text fragments you want to sign inside your HTML or XML page. These fragments must be enclosed by matching HTML or XML tags such as <div>, <p>, <table>, <textarea>, etc. It is not allowed to have <script>, <iframe>, <object>, <applet>, <layer>, and <embed> HTML elements inside the signed fragment.
- In the opening tag, insert attribute sigid="", so e.g. <div> becomes <div sigid="">.
- Open this HTML or XML page in SignDoc.exe and click Sign button. The program will ask you to select your signing certificate, will sign the marked fragments and connect to GenuineDoc.com to submit the signature. GenuineDoc will store the signature and return a unique identifier assigned to this signature. This identifier will be written as value of the sigid field, e.g. <div sigid="123456">.
- Save the page with filled in sigid fields, add verification link (if it was a HTML page) and upload it back to your site. Click here to find out about verifying XML documents.
